Where do I buy my Deaf Day Tickets?

You can purchase your tickets with Cash or Check at the Zoo on the day of the event. Be sure to go directly to the Deaf Day table to purchase your tickets and get your special Deaf Day badge.

Do I have to be Deaf to receive the discount?

No. Everyone involved in the Deaf Community, and specifically attending for Deaf Day can receive the discount.

I have a membership, but I still want to participate. Do I need to get a special ticket for Deaf Day?

No, you do not need to purchase a special ticket. If you have a membership you can still get in free. Be sure to stop by the Gate table to get your special Deaf Day keepsake badge and schedule! The cost for the badge is just $1 which covers our production expenses.

Is food provided for the picnic?

No. You can bring your food to the zoo, or purchase your food at the cafeteria and bring that food to the picnic area.

Where is the picnic held?

Directly behind the cafeteria on the large grassy area in front of the carousel. We will be meeting at the tree. Because thousands of people attend the zoo, the hundreds of Deaf Community members traveling through the zoo may miss other Deaf Community members on the zoo campus. Gathering on the lawn will give the Deaf Community a chance to interact and enjoy a more interactive day at the zoo.

Does Gate need volunteers?

YES!!! Gate needs Hearing and Deaf Volunteers. Volunteers do need to have smiles, competent Signing skills, and not be intimidated by communicating with the Deaf.
