Gate Communications has sought to create a classroom environment for learning Sign language that is ideal for individual learning and group learning. Gate offers classes in the following areas:

  • American Sign Language (Levels 1 - 5)
  • Interpreting / Sign to Voice (Levels 1 - 2)
  • Religious / Performance Interpreting (Levels 1 - 2)
  • Interpreting Ethics & Practices

ONE ON ONE / GROUP TUTORIALS

One on One / Group Tutorials are offered in a "one on one" format so each class is tailored to the needs and the schedule of the individual student(s). Group classes can be scheduled upon request. One on one classes & group tutorials are held either at the Gate office or at an alternate location agreed upon by the student(s) and instructor. Each class is an hour long and can be held from one to three times per week during both day and night time slots. Classes are offered in additional formats such as via the internet. Class costs vary by student number.

GATE'S ITP/IPP

Gate does offer a full ITP/IPP (Interpreter Training Program / Interpreter Preparation Program). This program is ideal for individuals wanting to expand their knowledge of interpreting but do not have the time to attend a standard ITP/IPP. For certification, RID will be requiring a Bachelor's Degree as of 2012, so for students interested in becoming certified interpreters and presently not carrying a Bachelor's Degree, Gate can recommend a list of possible ITP/IPP's offering a Bachelor's Degree in Interpreting.
