DEAF DAY AT THE ZOO 2008!

April 19, 2008
To all of you who braved the weather to come out... THANK YOU! About 270 people came to the zoo in the sun and THE RAIN in order to enjoy a fully accessible day at the Nashville Zoo. 28 volunteers donated their interpreting and Sign support skills to be sure all areas of the zoo were easy for Deaf/HH individuals to access. Photos and videos of Deaf Day will be uploaded to the web soon.

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER!

May 1, 2008
It never ceases to be an honor to work with Operation Andrew at the National Day of Prayer celebrations in Nashville Tennessee. Gate's interpreters joined the Katinas, the Mayor, and an array of public faces to pray for our nation on May 1st at the Sommet Center.

DEAF DAY AT THE AQUARIUM!

May 3, 2008
Gate has wanted to set up a Deaf Day event in Chattanooga for some time. Finally Deaf Day at the Tennessee Aquarium came to life! Approximately 40 Deaf Community members came out to support the first Deaf Day in Chattanooga. The aquarium got on board to support the event and interpreters were stationed at exhibits, keeper talks, and key areas to provide an open door to Deaf consumers. Photos will be uploaded soon.

"JONI & FRIENDS" SUPPORTS GATE COMMUNICATIONS!

If you have not heard of the heroing story of Joni Eareckson Tada, you have missed out on an incredible life touched by disaster and turned into success! Joni's life as a quadrapalegic has allowed her to direct funds to organizations which work with the disabled. Gate has been blessed to be one of the most recent recipients of funds from Joni & Friends. Funds will go towards the development of a ministerial DVD, ministry internship, and funding of The Barnabas Project.
