You know hurting people. We all do. So many days we want to ease the pain of someone who is suffering. We want to bring a smile to the face of someone who has no smiles. We even want to simply brighten someone's day. Gate knows these selfless acts are some of the most priceless forms of ministry... so simple, but so impacting. A ministry of encouragement called Barnabas was started at Westmont College in Santa Barbara. The idea of this ministry inspired our Deaf Outreach called The Barnabas Project.

The Barnabas Project is a ministry of encouragement. The goal? To bless! It's rather pure and simple. The goal is to make an impact on people's days... make the bad days better and the good days even brighter.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How does it work?

  • You submit a name and address and general problem of someone in the Deaf Community who needs encouragement (a Teacher of the Deaf whose parent recently passed away, a Deaf teen who has been hospitalized, an Interpreter who has just been through a divorce).
  • Gate will "Barnabas' Them" for a week. We send cards, candy, gift cards, books, flowers, tea, movie tickets, anything we can think of for a week. Your name is never revealed to them. Everything is kept confidential.
