HELP A DEAF CHILD
THIS CHRISTMAS!
We have such wonderful opportunities to celebrate Christmas, but without our help, these Mexican Deaf children won't have the opportunity to celebrate Christmas. For 11 years now Gate Communications has been hosting The Hope Tree Project, where we fund shoes and socks for Deaf kids of Con Mis Manos, a residential school in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. If you have listened to the news about Mexico, you hear that Matamoros is an extremely impoverished and dangerous city, yet in spite of the rampant poverty, the excessive abuse these kids face at home, and the extreme oppression these kids confront daily, they come to school with a smile. We do all we can to help the school, and they do all they can to help these children live safe and happy lives. This is one of our favorite ways to help!

Your support can help the Deaf children of Con Mis Manos have an incredible holiday! Funds will support an outreach to the school, providing enough money to take the children to a mall where they can buy shoes and socks, ones they pick out themselves! It will provide money for a pizza party and a trip to an arcade. They may live lives where they bucket bathe daily, or live in homes we would be terrified to even enter, but for a day, they get to live with all the blessings of kids in America. For many it may be the only brand new item they receive all year. You can make it all happen! It all starts right here with your tax-deductible donation.

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Is my donation tax-deductible?
YES!
Can groups sponsor, like church groups, families, schools, RID organizations, etc?
YES! If you want to raise funds within your group, you can sponsor multiple children, or you can send all funds to sponsorship of the party or the school. If you would like to speak to our office for more details, call us at 615-435-8929 V or 615-224-8058 VP.
Can individuals outside of the United States of America donate?
YES! PayPal will automatically convert your funds to American dollars.
Will the money go directly to the school?
YES!
What type of school is this?
A private residential school for the Deaf. About 1/4 of the students stay on campus, the rest commute via transportation the school provides at no charge.
Where is the school?
Con Mis Manos ("With My Hands") is located just South of Brownsville, TX in a city called Matamoros. You will often see Matamoros on the news because of the intense cartel activity in that city.
Are these students impoverished?
YES! Many don't have running water in their homes and use outhouses as bathrooms. Some live in the dump or in shanties, but all of the students living off campus live in conditions we would not feel comfortable in as Americans. The campus itself does have more favorable conditions.
What is life like for the Deaf in Northeastern Mexico?
The Deaf have no legal status in Northeastern Mexico. They have no rights, no access to interpreters, no access to public education, no access to communication in medical environments.
How many kids need sponsors?
Approximately 40.
Can I sponsor multiple children?
YES! Please fill out a separate form for each or call our office directly at 615-435-8929 V or 615-224-8058 VP.
Can I request information about the child I sponsored?
YES! Just indicate that when you call or when you fill out the online form.
If all children get sponsored where will the extra funds go?
Extra funds will go to support the MANY financial needs the school has.
The Hope Tree shopping day is December 17th.
To have the
funds in hand, all sponsorships need to be received no later than December 12th. Thank you!
