HELP A DEAF CHILD
THIS CHRISTMAS!
The pictures above look like your average kids going to an average shoe store, but these kids don't live average lives. Most of these kids live horrifically impoverished lives. Many do not have running water or electricity, and one doesn't even have an outhouse to use leaving the family with only a backyard for personal relief. So many of these kids are abused, having food or clothes withheld, some are given sedation drugs to keep them "out of the way", and some are even burned with cigarettes serving as "discipline". Deaf children in Northeastern Mexico have no access to school, no access to accessible medical care, no legal standing as "human children." Many Deaf children in this area end up in lives of begging or prostitution without intervention. These kids deserve a chance. They have so little, but Con Mis Manos and Gate Communications want to give them so much!
Here in America we have such wonderful opportunities to celebrate Christmas, but without our help, these Mexican Deaf children won't have the opportunity to enjoy the holidays with gifts. Kids need shoes constantly, and 16 years ago we began to fund a Christmas outreach program for these Deaf children to help provide gifts the kids can pick out themselves during the holidays. So with the support of a Deaf school called Con Mis Manos in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, we created The Hope Tree program, giving us a chance to sponsor Deaf children, and giving the school a chance to impact these children's Christmas' and education in a time of need.
If you have listened to the news about Mexico, you hear that Matamoros is an extremely impoverished and dangerous city, yet in spite of the rampant poverty, the excessive abuse these kids face at home, the extreme oppression these kids confront daily, and the dangers they face in a cartel driven town, they come to school with smiles and a determination to learn. We do all we can to help the school, and they do all they can to help these children live safe and happy lives. This is one of our favorite ways to help!
Your support can help the Deaf children of Con Mis Manos have an incredible holiday! Your sponsorship can support the provision of a new pair of shoes to a child, a pizza party and arcade trip for the children to celebrate Christmas, gifts for the teachers at the school who sacrifice so much to give the children a free and safe education, and you can even fund the residential needs of the school as they face additional costs during the holidays. None of this can happen without your help! It all starts right here with your tax-deductible donation.
