BSLN THE REVIVAL SHORTENED LOGO WITH PUR

HAVE QUESTIONS?
WE HAVE ANSWERS!

GENERAL QUESTIONS

IS THE GENERAL PUBLIC WELCOME TO APPLY?

This event is specifically for BSLN grads.

IS EVERYONE AUTOMATICALLY ACCEPTED?

We have limited space. We will accept people based primarily on order of applications received, space limitations, and there will be some consideration of whether the applicant's time with us was filled with smiles, or if the applicant left our staff needing therapy. ;)

WILL WE HAVE DEAF EVALUATORS?

YES! They will come back for a bit to give you feedback?

WILL THERE BE A LOT OF HANDS UP TIME?

YES! YES! YES! We will have about a day and a half of hands up time at this 2 day event.

WILL WE COVER GLOSSING?

YES! We start with glossing! Some of you will be so pleased.

WILL THERE BE NIGHT EVENTS?

Nashville has had such a difficult season... with downtown tornados, flooding, a bombing, and COVID, we will not be attempting a Friday night interpreted evening. Many of the locations we use for BSLN were damaged, destroyed, or have not financially recovered from the last 2 years.  By BSLN of 2022 our town should have bounced back enough to begin our evening activities once again. :::fingers crossed:::

WILL THERE BE A GOODBYE DINNER?

We will have a goodbye dinner/evening event of some kind. We are currently negotiating and planning that particular activity.  More information will become available as we finalize the details.

ABOUT THE APPLICATION

HAS THE APPLICATION PROCESS CHANGED?

The application process is very simple. All you have to do is jump over to the apply page, download the application, fill it out, and send it in! You do not have a long application this time, you do not have to submit videos with your application.

ONLINE vs LIVE PORTION OF THE WORKSHOP

HOW MUCH ONLINE CONTENT IS THERE?
Collectively, we have approximately 4 hours of online content.

WILL THE ONLINE CONTENT NEED TO BE COMPLETED BEFORE THE WORKSHOP?

Yes, however you can do it at 3 in the morning in your jammies if you would like, so it shouldn't be difficult to accomplish.

I SAW THAT WE HAD TO SUBMIT VIDEOS AT SOME POINT.
ARE THESE LIKE OUR APPLICATION VIDEOS LAST TIME?

We wanted to get feedback going from the beginning, so once you have been accepted these videos will be submitted to us, then uploaded and placed in the online content for review.

WHAT IS THE ONLINE CONTENT LIKE?
The online content will cover:

  • Introductions

  • Logistic

  • BSLN Review

  • Peer Feedback

  • Private Individual blogs

HOW DOES THE PEER FEEDBACK WORK?

Once accepted, participants will send one signed song to Gate. You can choose any genre. The song just needs to speak to you. As always the song needs to be family friendly. Once received, they will be uploaded to the online workshop site. They DO NOT need to be professional videos. Phone videos are completely acceptable. The goal of these videos is to get feedback going before you even arrive, feedback from the BSLN family! ONLY POSITIVE FEEDBACK IS ALLOWED so this is completely safe! The goal is to get your head in the game, and start learning by seeing what other people do and how they do it, before you even arrive! You know your family will love you no matter what you do, so this is a completely no pressure situation. Did you read that? NO PRESSURE! Do not let this online video stop you from applying.

WHAT ARE THESE PRIVATE INDIVIDUAL BLOGS?

A great Performance Interpreter has to be incredibly skilled at knowing their strengths and/or weaknesses. These blogs are submitted only to Mama Sam. They are not public. These are an evaluation of where you started, how you have changed, what your strengths and weaknesses are today, and what you feel like you need to work on in your skill set. These are great ways to personally evaluate your journey and a way to set goals for the future.
